Celebrate the holiday season with UW-La Crosse bands and choirs. Four upcoming UW-L concerts feature traditional carols, new yuletide music and some of UW-L’s new directing talent.
The Appalachian Trail is about 2,200 miles from Georgia to Maine. It traverses 14 states through cow pastures, rocky cliffs, waterfalls and open plains. The upward treks are the equivalent of hiking Mount Everest 16 times.
UW-La Crosse gradates Robert “Jake” Hoffmann and Travis Pernsteiner started hiking the trail two days after their May 2011 graduation. They finished four months later with full-grown beards, gazing down from the top of Mount Katahdin.
The UW-L Alumni Association has partnered with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company to provide alumni a special discounted rate on auto and home insurance.
In December UW-L alums attended a production of “Hairspray” at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres in Chanhassen, Minn., and met in the Chicago area for a Packer game.

Playing a good round of golf is about perseverance, paying attention and — engaging the heart, says UW-La Crosse Alumnus Don Iverson. Iverson did and he saw results. He was recognized in November as one of the all-time best golfers in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s 100-year history.
It was an accident that led Danica Leigl, ’06, to start an international, online hat company. The first hat she ever knit was made with bright pink yarn and had a gaping hole in the middle. She laughed at the goofy mistake, pulling her brown curls through the cap. Today Leigl sells her ponytail hats to people around the world.
