An ice cream social is a sweet start to the school year. The Move-In Day Ice Cream Social will be from 11-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, on Badger St. in front of Wimberly Hall.

‘This building is the next 100′ years
UW-La Crosse's Centennial Hall was dedicated on Wednesday, Aug. 31 after UW-L Chancellor Joe Gow's annual All University Address. On Sept. 6 students will fill the 5,000 seats of the new academic building, marking the start of school and a new era of education at UW-L.
Alumna returns after 80 years for transcript
Campus has changed a lot since Ruth (Beaver) Kramer was a student from 1931-32. But when she returned in August, she saw some familiar names. Kramer, an Ontario, Wis., native, was visiting campus to retrieve transcripts from when she was an elementary education major nine decades ago.
Pure water for Peru
The Holmen Area Rotary Club started a partnership with the La Molina Vieja, a Rotary Club in Lima, to bring water filters to Peruvian families who live along the river. UW-L Alum Dean McHugh, ’89, a member and past president of Holmen Rotary, recalls visiting the project.

Gridiron give: Alum promotes athletics through commercials
Two UW-L alums donated five, UW-L football-themed commercials to the university. The commercials, valued at $250,000, will remind students of the legacy of the school and help recruit outstanding athletes. Watch the videos here.
A Lantern will lead the way…
A Lantern. It has been a symbol for UW-L alumni for more than 80 years. Now, it’s the name of our university’s alumni publication and online newsletter. In addition to the name change and redesign of the magazine and newsletter, the Alumni Association has updated its lantern logo.
